What this website collects
The previous email-only signup collected consent to receive club news, meeting information and activity updates. Existing subscriptions remain on the club list. We save your email address, signup time and the version of the wording you agreed to in the club’s Supabase-hosted database. The list is used for club membership communications and activity updates.
Email signup does not verify ownership of the address. No automated welcome emails or newsletters are sent by this website. No member list is published. The email-list form does not store your email address in browser storage.
We have not stated a fixed retention period. Analytics and advertising trackers remain off.
Partnership requests
When you apply to become a partner, we store your organisation name, website, type, description, proposed collaboration, contact name, email address and logo privately using our hosting provider’s database and file storage. We use these details to review your request and contact you about it. Submission does not publish your logo, create a partnership or subscribe you to marketing emails. We also store a daily hashed request identifier to limit repeated submissions. Contact the club to request correction or deletion of your application. Only share information and logos you are authorised to provide.
Branch applications
We privately store the contact details, school or community, city, country, role, proposed branch type, estimated membership, plans and support status you submit. We use these to review your application and contact you about it. Applications are not published and do not automatically approve a branch or subscribe you to marketing. A daily hashed request identifier helps limit repeated submissions. Contact the club to request correction or deletion. Please do not submit home addresses or other students’ personal details.
Get Involved profiles and applications
We store your account identifier, name, LinkedIn profile URL and school or institution privately to manage club profiles, branch applications and core team applications. Club organisers also provide a club name, public URL, country, size and subject. Core team applications include your email, motivation, experience, availability and LinkedIn profile. We use these details to review applications and provide the requested tools. Application summaries may be emailed to the Research Nest team using Resend; they do not subscribe you to marketing.
Club challenges
A challenge link shows the club name, challenge title, reading and questions to anyone with the link. Do not include private information in challenge content. Participants sign in and agree to share their display name, submitted answers and score with the club organiser. We store one completed attempt per account and challenge. Organisers can view participation and assign recognition labels; participants can see their own feedback and recognition. Results and participant lists are not published on a public leaderboard. Contact Research Nest to request correction or deletion of your profile, application or club data.
Signing in with Google
When Google sign-in is enabled, Google and Supabase authenticate your account. Supabase stores account information such as your email address, display name and authentication identifiers. We use this information to identify your account and show your signed-in state. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, Drive or your contacts. Signing in does not automatically subscribe you to the club email list.
To keep you signed in, Supabase stores authentication tokens and account information in this browser’s local storage. Signing out removes the local session. Only use a shared device if you can sign out afterwards. Your account stores your last lesson and section, slide position, quiz answers and scores, and certificate details in Supabase. Database access rules restrict each account to its own progress. Pending changes are retained in browser storage for your account until they can sync. Video playback timestamps are not saved.
Continuing your learning
After 10 seconds of active browsing, a dismissible reminder invites you to sign in or create an account to save your progress. Pressing Escape or tapping outside it lets you continue browsing and hides it on that page for the rest of that tab’s session. It can appear on other pages while you are signed out. We keep the browsing timer and dismissal preference in session storage. Signed-in users do not see this prompt. The reminder can be dismissed on every page, and it never interrupts the Google sign-in callback.
Searching and downloading
Resource search and filtering run in your browser. Search terms and selected categories appear in the page URL so you can revisit or share a selection. Avoid entering personal or sensitive information in search; URLs may appear in browser history and hosting request logs. Downloaded worksheets are files you complete locally and are not uploaded to the club.
Hosting and external services
The hosting provider may process technical information needed to serve the site, such as network requests and IP addresses. A private preview may require the hosting provider’s sign-in; that access is managed by the provider, not a club account system.
Course lessons include optional YouTube videos. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; the video then plays in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to that playback.
Links to organisers, databases and other resources take you to separate services with their own privacy practices and access requirements. Their collection practices are not controlled by this site.
Student work and contact
No student names, portraits or completed projects are published in this initial site. Student work and images require approval before publication.
